Description:
Primary function is to manage projects and services, in an Agile environment, throughout the software development lifecycle from project initiation to post production support. This individual will possess solid skills and experience in gathering and analyzing functional requirements, core project management, cross group collaboration, and communication in a software development environment.
Major responsibilities
· There are two types of Program Managers in this world: a scorekeeper and a quarterback; we are looking for a quarterback; a driver.
· Gather, analyze, document, and perform reviews of functional specifications/requirements.
· Develop cross functional project plans, schedules and success to meet business objectives.
Act as liaison with various groups and departments (e.g., Development, Product Management, Quality Services, Operations, Business Operations, and Support).
· Manage full project cycle, such as: change management, tradeoffs, issue resolution (production issues), scope, managing to deliverables, escalations, schedule delays, etc….
· Work with individuals and group managers to estimate duration for activities and set common milestone targets.
· Act as the focal point of contact for project requirements, status and communication.
· Work with team to evaluate risks and assess potential impacts on project delivery.
· Contribute to ongoing refinement of software development lifecycle processes at the company.
· Manage service team deliverables through sprint cycles using Scrum, including planning sessions, daily scrums and sprint-end demos.
· At times, work with external customers, partners and carriers on integration projects.
Essential skills/qualifications
· 5+ years of Program or Technical Project Management in a software development environment.
· Experience with Agile software development methodologies (Scrum in particular).
· Experience with writing functional specifications, particularly for backend platforms and web services, a plus.
· Knowledgeable about all stages of the software development process.
· Demonstrated ability to ship successful software releases.
· Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal. Tailors communications to the appropriate audience: wonderfully succinct.
· Collaborative working style. Must work well in a team environment.
· Knowledge of the mobile messaging and connectivity platforms, a plus.
Education/training required
· Bachelor degree in MIS, or equivalent experience.
· PMI certification, desired.
· ScrumMaster certification, desired.
